Our Nine Albums, From The Art of Self Defense to Cometh the Storm
Since 1998 we've made nine albums. Here they are in order, with the names that matter behind a few of them, so you know where our designs come from.
Where did it start?
2000: The Art of Self Defense. Our first album, two years after Matt started the band in Oakland.
2002: Surrounded by Thieves. Our second record.
Which albums came next?
2005: Blessed Black Wings. Recorded with Steve Albini.
2007: Death Is This Communion. Our fourth album.
2010: Snakes for the Divine. Snakes, as you'll see, never really left our artwork.
2012: De Vermis Mysteriis. Produced by Kurt Ballou.
2015: Luminiferous. Kurt Ballou again.
What about the Grammy?
2018: Electric Messiah. Its title track won the Grammy for Best Metal Performance at the 61st Grammy Awards in February 2019.
What's the newest album?
2024: Cometh the Storm. Our ninth album, out on April 19, 2024, and the newest chapter of the story so far.
How do the albums show up in the merch?
- The same dark world: skulls, snakes, wolves and blackletter, the pictures that have sat next to our music since the start.
- Every design on every garment: tees, long sleeves, crewnecks and hoodies, with kids' and youth sizes.
Each product page tells you what the design shows on the front and the back.
